What an unusual juxtaposition of images that this is, Editors. Was the stenciling on the pedestrian walkway a symbol of solidarity, a vehicle for awareness, or a gesture of contempt? Such street theater could be read in all kinds of ways.
The tearing up of the reward announcement was not nice at all: does it display anger over too many fliers being stapled there? A libertarian disdain for community activism? Sympathy for the not-so-little devils? Or, perhaps someone was really interested in responding?
The remaining middle sliver of paper does have a rather suggestive shape: I trust that that was not deliberate.
A stray thought: After President Obama’s preemptive speech at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) dinner last night, the Equality March does seem more than a bit anti-climatic. Wow the monied hacks with empty promises, which then take the sting out of advocating for real reform. Priceless!
Clio – By any means necessary yet within reason we are simply trying to raise awareness. Online, by word of mouth, with free and paid media we’ll continue until this mystery is resolved.
Speaking for myself, my contempt is reserved solely for those who, as Kathy Wone said on the third anniversary, “victimized Robert – and his family…”
The flyers have been torn down before. I can’t explain why.
Understood, Craig. Thanks as always for the invaluable work of you and your fellow Editors.
Another stray thought: A holiday caroling/march from Oakton to McLean Hamlet would be well-attended, as well as, of course, your planned walking tour of the Swann. March-ia, March-ia, March-ia!
On August 2nd, 2006, Washington attorney Robert E. Wone was murdered at 1509 Swann Street. Over two years passed before any criminal charges were filed - and then only conspiracy, obstruction of justice and tampering charges were brought against Swann Street housemates Joe Price, Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward.
Two and a half years later, very little seems clear about what happened that night, and who murdered Robert Wone. A cloud of suspicion also hangs over the Swann Street defendants. A speedy trial is in their best interests as well.
We work together seeking answers to those questions. Help find the answers, and find justice for the memory of Robert Wone.

Something very eerie about that stencil on the crosswalk…
Craig,
Where was the the top photo taken? What intersection? Have you seen this stenciling anywhere else in Dupont Circle?
CD – That was the corner of 13 & T Streets.
Seeing that the posters (14 & S) were ripped down an hour after being put up was pretty sad.
Only after just an hour? That “ripping down” seems more intentional rather than whimsical, then. Team Price, behave!
That does seem pretty cold-hearted for people to be ripping up your flyers. Shows what kinds of friends are still supporting the murderers.
I’ve seen the WMRW sidewalk “art” near my gym!
Results or Crew Club? Just kidding, LOL!
